By now you may have heard of the power of positive affirmations. Affirmations are simple phrases that can make complex impacts on our lives. Through the power of positive affirmation, we can reshape the way we speak to and see ourselves. If you, like me, struggle with negative self-talk than this article is for you.
I am not alone in believing in the power of positive affirmations. Studies suggest that we can change our brains by thinking differently.
Meaning, positive affirmations, when used consistently and with concentration, have the power to reshape our minds and improve our mental wellbeing. If we tell ourselves we are successful, healthy, and proud of ourselves our brains can “jump ahead” of the experience and function as if we are already those things. Taking the “fake it until you make it” mantra to a whole new level. Affirmations are the perfect tool to fight off negative self-talk and promote changes in our internalized identity.
How to Use Positive Affirmations
You can use positive affirmations by finding a quiet space that makes you feel focused and peaceful. Try selecting one or two affirmations to repeat in one sitting. You can stand or sit in front of a mirror and recite the affirmations aloud to yourself. Recite the affirmations for about five minutes once a day. The more you recite the affirmations in this way, the stronger the message will resonate with you.
Practice affirmations whenever you are able. I like to say the affirmations aloud to myself in the mornings. This has been a great way for me to start the morning with positivity and self-love. Positive affirmations are a great way to practice radical self-acceptance. We all have areas in our life where we feel inadequate.
